چکیده

This study assessed zooplankton density and Chl-a amount to understand their spatial seasonal variation in Lake Malombe. Samples were collected for analysis during the hot, dry season (HDS) cool, dry, windy (CDWS). The identified Tropodiaptomus cunningtoni (TC), Mesocyclops aequatorialis (MAA), Thermocyclops neglectus (TN), Bosmina longirostris (BL), Diaphanosoma spp. (DS), Nauplii. These groups belong copepods, Cyclopidae, Cladocera, Ctenopod, Rotifers. exhibited a substantial variation, with highest concentration observed HDS lowest CDWS. Zooplankton such as T. cunningtoni, M. aeq. aequatorialis, neglectus, B. longirostris, spp, Nauplii, Rotifer increased HDS. water temperatures (WT), pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), positively correlated all densities. Sodium (Na+) Potassium (K+) ions TC, MAA, DS, Chloride ion (Cl-) Rotifers, while Carbonate (CO32-) TC. Bicarbonate (HCO3-) DS TDS negatively BL, Nitrite affected negatively, SRP had positive effect. revealed that physical-chemical variables, some significant ions, are most critical factors influencing of lake. findings demonstrate interaction between Chl-a, highlight significance ecological understanding complex dynamics food web system shallow tropical lakes Malombe- under changing climate.

Spatial and temporal distribution of gerrid (Heteroptera) and predation on microcrustaceans from a tropical shallow lake.

Predator-prey interactions involving an aquatic insect and zooplanktonic prey of different sizes were investigated to quantify prey mortality exposed to predators. Laboratory experiments were undertaken with the young and adult gerrid Rheumatobates crassifemur to test predation and size selectivity on the cladocerans Daphnia gessneri, Ceriodaphnia richardi, and Bosmina tubicen. Population fluct...

Correlates of Zooplankton Beta Diversity in Tropical Lake Systems

The changes in species composition between habitat patches (beta diversity) are likely related to a number of factors, including environmental heterogeneity, connectivity, disturbance and productivity. Here, we used data from aquatic environments in five Brazilian regions over two years and two seasons (rainy and dry seasons or high and low water level periods in floodplain lakes) in each year ...

Driving forces of the diel distribution of phytoplankton functional groups in a shallow tropical lake (Lake Monte Alegre, Southeast Brazil).

Phytoplankton vertical and diel dynamics in a small shallow lake (Lake Monte Alegre, Ribeirão Preto, state of São Paulo) were investigated in two climatological periods: July 2001 (cool-dry season) and March 2002 (warm-rainy season). Monte Alegre is a eutrophic reservoir, with a warm polymictic discontinuous circulation pattern. The lake was thermally stratified in both periods, although dissol...

Spatial dynamics of Phlebotomus sand-fly ecological condition in response to climate change

Background: Changing the climatic pattern can lead to major changes in the geographical distribution of infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of climate change on the favorable bio-climatological zone for leishmaniasis sand-fly living which is a vector of Leishmania in Iran. Materials and Methods: Data of the climatic factors affecting the biology of sandflies...
